What is a tokenized Treasury fund?
A tokenized Treasury fund is a traditional US government money market fund β the kind pension funds and corporations have used for decades β that has been placed on a blockchain. Each token represents a share of the fund. The yield comes entirely from US Treasury bills and government securities, not from cryptocurrency.
The blockchain layer adds benefits that traditional funds lack: instant 24/7 settlement, programmable transfers, and the ability to use the tokens as collateral in other financial applications. For most individual investors, the practical benefit is simply: T-bill yields with instant access.
