Privacy Policy
Last updated April 2, 2026. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly: email address when you create an account or sign up for rate alerts, financial inputs you enter in the Money Map (balance, current rate, goal) — these are processed in your browser and never stored unless you explicitly save results, and your name if provided during account creation.
We automatically collect: pages visited and time spent (via Google Analytics, anonymized), referring URLs, browser type and device category, and IP address (truncated to city-level).
How we use your information
We use your information to provide the service (rate comparisons, Money Map, rate alerts), send transactional emails (rate alert notifications, account confirmations), improve our product through aggregate analytics, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising. We do not build profiles for sale to third parties.
Affiliate tracking
When you click through to a financial product provider, we pass UTM parameters (utm_source=switchwize, utm_medium=comparison, a product sub_id) to the provider so we receive referral credit. The provider receives no information about other pages you visited on SwitchWize, your balance, or your rate inputs.
Data sharing
We share data with: Clerk (authentication provider), Neon (database, US-hosted), Upstash (Redis cache), Resend (transactional email), Google Analytics (aggregate analytics only), and Anthropic (AI query processing — queries are not stored or used for training per Anthropic's API terms).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Data retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Rate alert subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Money Map sessions are retained for 12 months if you are logged in. You may request deletion at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, export your data in a machine-readable format, and opt out of marketing emails.

Cookies
We use essential cookies (required for authentication and session management), analytics cookies (Google Analytics — you can opt out via our cookie preferences), and no advertising or tracking cookies.
