Fed decision, December 9, 2026: did banks pass the last move on to savers?
SwitchWize tracks savings and 1-year CD rates at more than 80 banks every day. Use the numbers below free, with credit to "SwitchWize (switchwize.com)". They update daily, before and after the decision. The Fed announces its next decision on Dec 9.
The numbers today
- 33 of 85 savings accounts (39%) have raised their rate since the Fed's September 16, 2026 hike. 52 have not changed it.
- The typical savings account has passed on none of the Fed's move. The average account moved 0.09 percentage points, against the Fed's 0.25.
- 1-year CDs moved more: 42 of 76 banks (55%) have raised their 1-year CD rate, and the typical bank passed on 60% of the move.
- Banks that moved their savings rate took a median of 9 days to do it.

What we publish after the decision
- If the Fed moves rates, the tracker switches to the new move the day we record the decision.
- We save a fixed copy of the data going in, then 1 day, 7 days and 30 days after the decision, so you can quote a number that will not change later.
- If the Fed holds, the tracker keeps measuring the September increase, which by then is nearly three months old.
