SwitchWize Original Metric

What the credit card ad promises. What you actually get.

Premium cards add up every credit at full face value to sell you on the annual fee. SwitchWize friction-scores what a typical cardholder actually realizes and shows the real net cost, card by card.

Methodology

How the realized value is modeled

Every tracked credit (a statement credit, lounge access, elite status, and similar perks) is scored on six friction dimensions — enrollment, cadence, merchant lock, redemption channel, spend threshold, and notification — and mapped to an estimated-utilization band. An auto-applying monthly statement credit scores close to fully usable; a benefit requiring manual enrollment, a narrow eligible merchant, or a once-a-year window scores lower.

Every row today rests on that structural friction model rather than a real redemption survey or issuer disclosure, so every card carries a disclosed confidence grade instead of false precision — see the confidence badge on each card above. As real evidence (issuer breakage disclosures, published surveys, SwitchWize's own redemption research) accrues per credit, individual rows move to a higher evidence tier and the grade improves.

Advertised credit value and annual fee come from SwitchWize's sourced card records. A card only appears here once it has at least one tracked, friction-scored credit — nothing is estimated without that underlying data. Full rubric, evidence tiers, and confidence-grading detail on the Fee Reality methodology page.
